INGREDIENTS:
- 250g wheat semolina (rava)
- 2 onions (chopped)
- 1 tomato (chopped)
- 4 green chilies (slit)
- 1 carrot (chopped)
- A handful of beans (chopped)
- 1 tablespoon ginger (finely chopped)
- 4 tablespoons chana dal (split chickpeas)
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- A few curry leaves
- 50 ml oil
- Salt, to taste
- Coriander leaves
INSTRUCTIONS:
Prepare the seasoning:
Heat 50 ml oil in a pan. Once hot, add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add the chopped onions, 4 green chilies, 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger, 4 tablespoons chana dal, and a few curry leaves. Sauté until the onions turn golden.
Cook the vegetables:
Add the chopped tomato and sauté for 2 minutes. Then, add the chopped carrot and beans (about 1 cup combined) and sauté well.
Add water and cook:
Pour in ½ tumbler (about 100 ml) of water and cook until the vegetables are tender. Once done, add 500 ml of water and salt to taste. Bring it to a boil.
Add rava:
Once the water starts boiling, gradually add 250g of rava, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the rava is soft and fully cooked.
Finish:
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
